11 Best European Alternatives to Granola (2026)

Granola is an AI notepad for meetings: it captures audio on your computer or phone, with no bot joining the call, and turns your rough notes into full meeting notes. It is run by Granola, Inc., a Delaware company whose app team works in London. It's also known as Granola AI. The same list works if you're replacing Otter, Fireflies and Fathom. The European alternatives that replace it best are jamie (Germany) for people who don't want a bot joining client calls, MeetGeek (Romania) for small teams wanting cheap meeting notes stored in the EU and tl;dv (Germany) for teams that want a low-cost meeting recorder with CRM sync.

Why look for a European alternative to Granola?

Granola is headquartered in the United States. More on the company is in our Granola dossier. These are the reasons buyers in Europe most often give for looking elsewhere:

  • Granola, Inc. is a US company: its privacy policy says Granola is based in the US, with operations in the UK, and that the service is hosted and operated in the US. Notes and transcripts sit in a US-hosted AWS cloud, so US law, including the CLOUD Act, applies to them.
  • Transcription runs through Deepgram and AssemblyAI, and summaries through OpenAI and Anthropic. Data from the EU and UK leaves Europe under Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • There is no EU data region and no private-cloud version; Granola's security page says it may consider one in future. Notes are kept until you delete them, and retention periods are an Enterprise feature.
  • In its favour: Granola stores no meeting audio, only transcripts and notes; OpenAI and Anthropic may not train on your data; and you can opt out of Granola training on de-identified data, which is off by default on Enterprise.

How this list was made

A company counts as European if it's headquartered in Europe: the EU, the EEA, Switzerland, the UK, or elsewhere in geographic Europe, never Russia or Belarus. Headquarters means where it's run from, not a registered office. Companies founded in Europe but headquartered elsewhere today are listed separately, and a non-European owner is always named.

Each company was checked against its own legal notice, pricing page and data-processing terms, and its G2 page. Headcount, funding and founding year come from LeadWave's database of SaaS companies. No company paid to be listed or ranked.
