Granola email address pattern
Granola staff mailboxes are on granola.so, not granola.ai. Addresses follow {first}@granola.so, according to Prospeo (Prospeo).
Format | Example (fictional name: Maya Chen) | Share of known addresses | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
{first}@granola.so | maya@granola.so | 100% of Prospeo’s sample | Current, standard |
{first}@granola.ai | maya@granola.ai | Not seen | Unconfirmed: granola.ai is the website domain, and Granola publishes no address on it |
Before emailing any pattern-based address, run it through a verifier: a bounce hurts deliverability for every later send. All Granola patterns, domains and official inboxes are on the Granola email format page.

From a Google acquisition to a notepad without a bot
Pedregal grew up in upstate New York and was 12 when Google launched: “the internet was like this window onto the world” (EO). He joined Google in 2008 and left a few years later to start Socratic (Platformer), an AI tutor for high school students that grew to 10 million users before Google bought it in 2018 (Slush). Spark Capital led Socratic’s seed round (EdSurge); a decade later, it led Granola’s Series A (TechCrunch).
“The genesis of Granola was I quit Google because Google bought my last startup,” he says (MAD Podcast). Playing with GPT-3 shortly after, he was “instantly hooked” (Hallway Chat). He met Sam Stephenson, who had worked at the note-taking app Ideaflow, through a meetup group, and they founded Granola in London in March 2023 (TechCrunch).
They ran a closed beta for a year, “starting with just three users and growing to about a hundred”; at first the product could only handle short meetings, because of the models’ context windows (Creator Economy). They also refused to send a bot into calls: “we thought they’re a really inelegant, dehumanizing force in a meeting” (Platformer). Granola transcribes from the computer’s audio and doesn’t store the recording (MAD Podcast). It launched in May 2024 (Granola) and reached a $1.5 billion valuation 22 months later (Granola).
In his own words
“If we are not careful, as a society we may accidentally outsource not just our busywork, but our judgment to LLMs.”
— Introducing Granola, May 22, 2024 (Granola)
“Writing is thinking, and your tools should support your thinking, not replace it.”
— Announcing the Series A, October 23, 2024 (Granola)
“I think Granola feels more like a really smart, enhanced notepad than a meeting recorder.”
— The MAD Podcast, August 21, 2025 (MAD Podcast)
“Transcripts are this goldmine of context.”
— Interview with Platformer, July 30, 2026 (Platformer)
