Who owns Linear?

Linear hasn’t raised new money since June 2025. Instead it has twice let current and former employees sell shares: alongside the Series C at $1.25 billion (Linear), and on August 26, 2026, when Accel, 01A, Salesforce Ventures and S32 bought $99 million of shares at a $2.5 billion valuation (Linear). Saarinen wrote that raising more capital would have diluted the team “without a clear reason”, because Linear already has more cash in the bank than it has ever raised.

What is Linear’s revenue?

Linear passed $100 million in annual recurring revenue earlier in 2026, it said in August (Linear). It didn’t give the month: arr.club dates the milestone to April 5, 2026 (arr.club), and Sacra estimates July 2026 (Sacra).

Two numbers explain the growth. Linear’s paying customers doubled in seven months, from 20,000+ in January 2026 to 40,000+ in August. And existing customers keep spending more: net revenue retention was 177% in August (Linear), after Saarinen put it at about 180% across cohorts in January, when annual recurring revenue from customers spending $100,000 or more had grown 6.3 times over 2025 (Karri Saarinen on X).

Chart of new Linear workspaces created over time: roughly flat before 2025, then climbing through 2025 to a record in January 2026

New workspaces created on Linear, to January 2026. Saarinen shared the chart without axis values, saying more businesses were signing up for Linear than ever before (X).

Linear has been profitable since 2021, a year after it launched (Linear). Its profits grew 280% in 2024, the company told TechCrunch (TechCrunch), and its net operating income rose about 3.5 times in 2025, with a negative lifetime burn (Karri Saarinen on X). In August 2026 it said it was cash-flow positive.

AI agents are a fast-growing share of the work. In January 2026, more than 70% of enterprise workspaces had installed agents, about 2,000 agents were installed each week and agents created 14,000 issues a week; Cursor, GitHub Copilot and OpenAI’s Codex had all shipped agents on Linear (Karri Saarinen on X). By August, agents were installed in 95% of paid workspaces, and the share of work they create had grown from 3% to 50% in a year (Linear).

Customers Linear names include OpenAI, Cursor, Cognition, Harvey, Ramp, Coinbase, Salesforce and Figma (Linear); OpenAI has scaled it to 3,000 users (Linear customers). Coinbase, Oscar Health and Automattic switched to Linear in 2025 (Karri Saarinen on X).

How much did Linear raise? Funding and valuation

Linear has raised about $134 million across four rounds, according to Crunchbase (TechCrunch). Its valuation doubled from $1.25 billion at the June 2025 Series C to $2.5 billion at the August 2026 tender offer.

Why totals differ online: older databases still show $17.2 million, Linear’s total after its 2020 Series A (Linear). The $134 million figure counts the whole Series C, which included shares bought from existing holders, so the new money Linear received is somewhat less. Tender offers don’t count, because Linear issued no new shares in them.
