The company is PostHog Inc., formerly Hiberly Inc., with subsidiaries in the UK (Hiberly Ltd) and Germany (PostHog GmbH) (PostHog). Hiberly Ltd, registered in England in July 2019, lists both co-founders as its directors and as people with significant control (Companies House).

Who owns PostHog?

PostHog is private and venture-backed. Its co-founders, James Hawkins and Tim Glaser, split the company 50:50 when they started (PostHog); after six funding rounds, their stakes today aren’t public. Its investors include Stripe, which led the Series D (PostHog), Peak XV Partners, which led the Series E (PostHog), GV and Y Combinator.

Staff own part of it too. Early employees sold shares alongside the Series C, and with the Series D “any employee could sell up to 20% of their vested shares” (PostHog).

What is PostHog’s revenue?

PostHog doesn’t publish its revenue as a number. In June 2025 co-founder James Hawkins said it had “multiple $10s of millions of ARR and 3x year-over-year growth” (Crunchbase News), and its goal is “$100 million in annual revenue by the end of 2026” (PostHog handbook).

In October 2024 its handbook put revenue “in the low $10s of millions of ARR” (PostHog handbook). Revenue grew nearly 6x in 2022 (PostHog) and about 4x in 2023 (PostHog handbook). Stripe, which handles payments for 99% of PostHog’s paying customers, calls it “on pace for $100 million ARR” in a 2026 case study (Stripe). On October 16, 2026, a PostHog post still called $100M ARR, “The Hundy”, a target (PostHog).

PostHog says it runs “default alive” and has “never had layoffs” (PostHog). It ended 2024 cash-flow positive (PostHog handbook), and in June 2025 Crunchbase News reported it was cash-flow positive but not yet profitable (Crunchbase News).

Most users pay nothing: more than 90% of companies use PostHog for free (PostHog). Every product has a monthly free tier, such as 1 million analytics events and 5,000 session recordings, and usage above it is billed per unit, with no seat fees (PostHog).

PostHog ARR (annual recurring revenue)

PostHog has never published an exact ARR. Its own figures are ranges: “low $10s of millions” in October 2024 (PostHog handbook) and “multiple $10s of millions” in June 2025, growing 3x a year (Crunchbase News). Its target is $100 million ARR by the end of 2026 (PostHog handbook). Research firm Sacra estimated $57.5 million in February 2026 (Sacra); that is an outside estimate, not a PostHog figure.

PostHog MRR (monthly recurring revenue)

PostHog doesn’t publish MRR. “Multiple $10s of millions” of ARR means at least about $1.7 million a month, and its $100 million goal would be about $8.3 million a month; both are our calculations, not company figures.

How much has PostHog raised? Funding and valuation

About $194 million in six rounds, by PostHog’s count after the Series E (PostHog handbook); its press kit adds the rounds up to $182 million (PostHog). The latest is a $75 million Series E at a $1.4 billion valuation, led by Peak XV Partners in September 2025, which made it a unicorn (PostHog) (Inc42). It has announced no round since.

The Series D began with a tweet: in November 2023 Stripe’s CEO, Patrick Collison, called PostHog’s website “very well done” (X) (Crunchbase News). PostHog’s own pages date several rounds differently (its press kit puts the Series D in March 2025, for example); the table uses the announcement dates (PostHog).

What does PostHog make? Products

PostHog started in 2020 as open-source product analytics. It now sells about a dozen tools on one platform: product and web analytics, session replay, feature flags, experiments, surveys, error tracking, logs, a data warehouse, workflows and AI observability, plus PostHog AI, an assistant that answers questions about your data (PostHog). Since July 2026 it has positioned itself as “self-driving” software, used through its web app, Slack, an MCP server, a command-line tool and a desktop app (PostHog).

Its code is public: the main repository is MIT-licensed outside its enterprise folder and has about 40,700 GitHub stars (GitHub). PostHog stopped supporting paid self-hosting in 2023 (PostHog); customers use PostHog Cloud in the US or the EU, hosted in Frankfurt (PostHog).

Who is the CEO of PostHog?

PostHog has two co-CEOs, its co-founders James Hawkins and Tim Glaser. They started as CEO and CTO and switched to shared titles in March 2025 (GitHub). Since May 2026 Hawkins has focused on AI, while Glaser runs hiring, operations, finance, go-to-market and engineering (PostHog). The two met at Arachnys, a London software company, where Hawkins ran sales.
