PostHog CEO email address: how to reach James Hawkins and Tim Glaser
James Hawkins published james@posthog.com himself, in two 2020 posts on PostHog’s blog under his name: “email me” to join the mailing list (PostHog), and again when hiring a designer (PostHog). Tim Glaser lists tim@posthog.com as the public email on his GitHub profile (GitHub). Both follow the company pattern, {first}@posthog.com.
Neither has published an address more recently; James is most active on X and LinkedIn. Reporters should use press@posthog.com: only James, Tim and two other staff speak to the press for PostHog (PostHog handbook). And if a message claiming to be from either asks for a wire transfer, gift cards or a login code, it isn’t from them: PostHog’s handbook says its executives never ask for those (PostHog handbook).

PostHog email address pattern
Staff use {first}@posthog.com (LeadIQ), or {first}.{last initial}@posthog.com when a colleague already has their first name.
Format | Example (fictional name: Maya Chen) | Share of known addresses | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
{first}@posthog.com | maya@posthog.com | 98% (LeadIQ); 52% of 106 staff addresses in PostHog’s public code | Current, standard |
{first}.{l}@posthog.com | maya.c@posthog.com | 2% (LeadIQ); 42% in PostHog’s code | When the first name is already taken |
{first}.{last}@posthog.com | maya.chen@posthog.com | 5 of 106 in PostHog’s code | Rare |
Before emailing any pattern-based address, run it through a verifier: a bounce hurts deliverability for every later send. All PostHog patterns and official inboxes are on the PostHog email format page.

How Hawkins and Glaser started PostHog
They met at Arachnys in London, where Hawkins ran sales (PostHog) and Glaser went from engineer to product manager. When Glaser lined up a new job, “roughly 37 seconds after it was announced James wanted to ‘grab a beer’,” Glaser writes, and talked him into a startup instead (PostHog). They split the company 50:50 and, once they could, paid themselves the same salary (PostHog).
PostHog was their sixth idea in about six months: a sales territory tool, a CRM, a 1:1 tool, a technical-debt survey tool (the idea that got them into Y Combinator), an engineering retention tool, then open-source product analytics (PostHog). The push came from a meeting with Sentry’s founder, who told Hawkins “We would never send all our data to 3rd parties” (PostHog). They started coding on January 23, 2020 and launched on Hacker News within four weeks (Hacker News).
PostHog has been remote since 2020: “We think that’s a big advantage for open source companies,” Hawkins wrote (PostHog).
James Hawkins
Hawkins spent the first ten years of his career “trying to be a professional cyclist”, doing web development on the side; then he bootstrapped an online marketing company “to several million dollars a year”, and spent a little over four years as Arachnys’ VP of sales, selling enterprise software to banks (PostHog) (PostHog). He lists San Francisco on X and GitHub (GitHub), while his PostHog profile says he lives in the UK and visits the US five or six times a year.
Online he is best known for his posts about “hopping on a quick call” (X), which PostHog’s own handbook says went viral several times (PostHog handbook). Since May 2026 he has worked mainly on PostHog’s AI products (PostHog).
Tim Glaser
Glaser, originally from the Netherlands, has been coding since he was 11; someone first paid him for code at 13, and Cloud9 IDE hired him at 16 (PostHog). He was PostHog’s CTO until March 2025 (GitHub), and since May 2026 he has run execution across hiring, operations, finance, go-to-market and engineering (PostHog). His GitHub bio still says CTO.
In their own words

— James Hawkins, “PostHog’s next chapter”, May 1, 2026 (PostHog)
“We think PostHog’s future is headless.”
— James Hawkins, the same post (PostHog)
“We take pride in investing as much as possible in our ability to ship cool projects and not in hiring a gazillion managers.”
— James Hawkins, CEO diary, October 13, 2025 (PostHog)
“We can now proudly upgrade our status from unicorn adjacent to unicorn.”
— James Hawkins, on the Series E, September 29, 2025 (PostHog)
