What is PostHog’s email format?
Format | Example (fictional name: Maya Chen) | Share of known addresses | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
{first}@posthog.com | maya@posthog.com | 98% (LeadIQ); 52% of 106 staff addresses in PostHog’s public code | Current, standard |
{first}.{l}@posthog.com | maya.c@posthog.com | 2% (LeadIQ); 42% in PostHog’s code | When the first name is already taken |
{first}.{last}@posthog.com | maya.chen@posthog.com | 5 of 106 in PostHog’s code | Rare |
LeadIQ puts {first}@posthog.com at 98% of known addresses (LeadIQ) (checked Nov 5, 2026). PostHog’s own public code gives the fuller picture: of the 106 distinct staff addresses in commits to its main GitHub repositories (GitHub), 55 are a bare first name and 45 add a dot and the last initial. The second form belongs to people who joined after someone with the same first name, so a company of about 200 has, for example, several Daniels with different initials.
SignalHire puts {first}.{last}@posthog.com at 95% (SignalHire), which matches only 5 of PostHog’s 106 addresses; ignore it here.
A pattern-based address is an educated guess, not a confirmed one. If maya@posthog.com bounces, try maya.c@posthog.com, and run either through an email verifier before you send, because a bounce hurts your sender reputation.
Which domains does PostHog use?
posthog.com: the website, the app and all staff email. Mail runs on Google Workspace, and its DMARC policy is quarantine, so mail that fakes a posthog.com sender should land in spam (DNS checked Nov 5, 2026).
getposthog.com, posthog.co, post-hog.com and posthog.ai redirect to posthog.com. posthog.ai’s DNS says it sends no mail at all.
posthog.dev and posthog.net host internal tools and have no mail servers.
posthogstatus.com is its status page (PostHog status).
Is that email really from PostHog?
PostHog’s handbook warns that its staff are “frequent targets of scams and phishing”, and that James, Tim and other executives “will never ask for wire transfers, gift cards, MFA codes, or access changes” over email or messaging apps (PostHog handbook). Its rule for staff applies to everyone: trust only senders at posthog.com. The handbook gives posthog.co as an example of a look-alike domain; today that domain redirects to posthog.com.

hey@posthog.com appears in many of PostHog’s older posts, but it is mostly a sending address, “sporadically monitored at best”, its handbook says (PostHog handbook). Billing questions go through in-app support (PostHog docs). Security reports earn merch, not cash: there is no paid bug bounty (PostHog handbook).
Which other companies are called PostHog?
Before 2020 posthog.com belonged to someone else: in 2017 it was “PostHog – Compare Shipping Rates”, a parcel-quote site (Wayback Machine), so any older data tied to the domain isn’t this company’s. PostHog’s US parent was called Hiberly Inc., and its UK subsidiary is still Hiberly Ltd (Privacy policy) (Companies House), so providers may list Hiberly as a separate company. Similar names, such as POSTHOC (posthoc.com) and Posthook (posthook.io), are unrelated. PostHog’s addresses end in posthog.com.
